The world is in the midst of an energy transition from fossil fuels to renewable energy sources. We have developed a wide range of smart heat pump solutions built on modern software. The products are suitable for everything from small apartments to large property complexes and entire residential blocks. The next generation of heat pumps are not only very energy efficient but also designed to be an active node in the electrical grid. Qvantum has developed a series of new capabilities for this purpose including our heat pump to grid (HP2G), flexready®, thermal battery and digital doctor features.

About the role

The NPI Sourcing Manager is central to keeping speed and innovation height by integrating engineering creativity, supplier innovation and industrial readiness. This role act as a co-developer and sourcing partner to R&D. You translate technical ideas, sketches, or prototypes into cost-effective, and scalable solutions by working directly with engineers, suppliers, and manufacturing teams. This role drives speed, flexibility, and supplier readiness through close technical collaboration, rapid iteration and hands-on ownership for both hardware and software products.

Main responsibilities

• Work inside New Product Development Projects as the sourcing and supplier voice from day one and suggest material or supplier alternatives to balance performance, lead time, cost and manufacturability.
• Scan global supplier markets for competitive advantage and innovation partners, aligned with Qvantum’s R&D roadmap in Europe & Asia, also assessing manufacturing scale-up capabilities of suppliers, innovation potential, and sustainability.
• Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to prototype delivery success, time-to-industrialization and supplier scalability by taking early ownership of key component categories.
• Lead rapid RFQs and informal benchmarking, focusing on speed and insight. Manage sourcing trade-offs dynamically: quality, cost, performance, and delivery.
• Make daily micro-decisions with incomplete data, balancing innovation with risk. Keep procurement data and BOMs live and synchronized, escalate or pivot suppliers fast when conditions or designs change.
• Perform commercial evaluations, negotiate flexible contracts, development agreements, NDAs and statements of work.
• Project lead towards set sourcing milestones for NPI projects, manage prototype part deliveries, as well as coordinate, lead and collaborate across Qvantum units and external stakeholders.

Qualifications

• B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Engineering, Supply Chain, or equivalent technical discipline and experience in technical sourcing, product development procurement, or engineering-driven supply chain within HVAC-, heat pump-, white goods or adjacent industry.
• Proven success working in high-speed, low-structure environments where innovation outpaces process and comfortable with hands-on prototype sourcing and direct supplier interactions.
• Knowledge of European and Asian manufacturing, supply base, and logistics networks.
• Minimum 10-15 years experience in multiple roles as commodity buyer, sourcing PM, target costing across different commodity categories in EU and Asia.
• Experience working embedded in R&D teams; acting as the bridge between engineering, operations, and suppliers. Shares information quickly and clearly with R&D, operations, and Management team.
• Sees the bigger picture: supplier scalability, cost trajectory, and design trade-offs and connects sourcing strategy to long-term product- and platform roadmaps.
• Communicates clearly across technical and business disciplines. Challenges traditional sourcing norms; embraces change and experimentation.
