Postdoc in Agentic AI for 6G Networks in the Edge Cloud Continuum

Join us in shaping the future of 6G networks through cutting-edge research at the intersection of artificial intelligence, cloud systems, and next-generation communication infrastructures. In this position, you will develop agentic AI solutions that can autonomously configure and deploy 6G and edge-cloud functions, using digital twins and advanced validation techniques. You will work closely with leading Swedish industry partners in 6G and cloud computing, gaining unique opportunities to bridge academic research with real-world applications. Research environment The Optical Networks (ON) Unit at the department of Electrical Engineering conducts world-leading research in areas such as: • Network automation, control, and management • Fiber access and mobile transport networks • Network sustainability, reliability, and security • Converged fiber–wireless architectures Within this environment, the project Agentic AI for self-deployable 6G networks in the edge continuum (EC-DEPLOY-6G) pioneers the use of large language model–driven agents to autonomously configure and deploy 6G and cloud functions. The project leverages digital twin environments and validation frameworks to ensure reliable, secure, and reproducible deployment processes. The project is carried out in close collaboration with Ericsson and Arctos Labs, offering a unique opportunity to conduct cutting-edge academic research while working directly with two leading Swedish industry partners. Main responsibilities  • Formulate research questions and develop strategies to address them within the scope of the project • Develop new agentic AI methods for the autonomous configuration and deployment of 6G core functions in the edge-cloud continuum • Design, develop, and use digital twin environments and validation tests to ensure correctness and reproducibility of deployments • Integrate research outcomes into proof-of-concept demonstrators and perform performance assessments in representative environments • Collaborate with team members and external researchers from academia and industry, contributing to project deliverables and milestones • Communicate research results effectively, through publications in high-impact journals and presentations at leading international conferences Your profile • A PhD degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Telecommunications, or a closely related field, awarded no more than three years prior to the application deadline* • Proven ability to apply AI/ML methods to the management and operation of communication infrastructures, including configuration and performance assessment • Experience in designing, implementing, and executing experimental demonstrations and proof-of-concept systems • Familiarity with edge-cloud environments and virtualization/containerization platforms (e.g., Kubernetes, OpenStack) • Ability and motivation to carry out high-quality research and development • Strong track record of publications in leading Q1 journals and top-tier international conferences • Excellent programming skills, with demonstrated ability to develop research-oriented software • Experience with digital twin environments for testing and validation • Excellent communication skills in both oral and written English * The date shown in your doctoral degree certificate is the date we use, as this is the date you have met all requirements for the doctoral degree. Exceptions from the 3-year limit can be made for longer periods resulting from parental leave, sick leave or military service. Contract terms   The position is a temporary full-time employment for two years. The position requires physical presence throughout the entire employment.
