Operating in a client-side oversight capacity, the role ensures that all planning activities, deliverables, and forecasts align with AFNORD’s PMO governance framework, strategic milestones, and performance reporting requirements.
The Senior Project Planner acts as a key interface between engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning teams — integrating data, identifying risks, and providing management with accurate and timely visibility into project progress and schedule health.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain integrated master schedules covering engineering, procurement, fabrication, construction, and commissioning phases
- Review and validate EPC contractor schedules, ensuring compliance with AFNORD PMO’s planning standards and contractual requirements.
- Establish planning baselines, perform critical path analysis (CPA), and monitor schedule performance using earned value and variance techniques.
- Lead schedule risk assessments and support proactive mitigation planning.
- Support PMO governance by providing schedule dashboards, performance indicators, and forecasting summaries for management reporting.
- Coordinate with cost control, procurement, and engineering functions to ensure cross-discipline alignment and cost–time integration.
- Facilitate schedule review meetings with contractors, consultants, and client stakeholders, ensuring early identification of potential delays and recovery actions.
- Conduct what-if and scenario analyses to assess impacts of changes or delays on project milestones.
- Support change management processes, validating time impacts and supporting claims assessments.
- Mentor junior planners and contribute to continuous improvement of AFNORD’s planning and project controls framework.
- Ensure compliance with PMO standards, data accuracy, and transparent schedule governance across all reporting levels.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Project Management, or related discipline.
- Minimum 8–10 years of experience in project planning and controls within EPC, industrial, or infrastructure environments, preferably with client or PMO exposure.
- Proficiency in Primavera P6 (mandatory) and strong working knowledge of MS Project.
- Solid understanding of earned value management (EVM), progress measurement, and forecasting methodologies.
- Experience integrating schedules across multiple contractors and managing multi-discipline interfaces.
- Strong knowledge of project execution lifecycles (FEED, EPC, commissioning, and handover).
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and stakeholder communication skills.
- Proven ability to challenge and validate contractor data objectively and constructively.
- Fluency in English (written and verbal); Swedish proficiency is advantageous.
Desirable Attributes
- Experience in data center, renewable energy, or advanced manufacturing projects.
- Familiarity with portfolio-level planning tools and PMO reporting systems.
- Proficiency in Power BI, Excel analytics, or other dashboard tools for schedule visualization.
- Certification such as PMI-SP, PMP, or AACE PSP is highly desirable.
- Strong awareness of risk management and change control processes.
- Ability to operate effectively in VUCA environments and manage competing project priorities.
