Workday Payroll Integration Specialist (Consultant)

We are looking for an experienced Workday Payroll Integration Specialist to join a global HR Tech environment in a hands-on consulting role.

In this assignment, you will design, build, and maintain outbound payroll integrations from Workday to external payroll vendors across multiple countries, systems, and formats. You will play a key role in delivering robust, scalable, and audit-ready payroll data flows in a complex, international setup.

Your Role

As part of a skilled HR Technology team, you will act as a technical lead within payroll integration projects, working closely with HRIS, Payroll teams, and external vendors.

What You’ll Do

• Lead the integration track in payroll-related development projects
• Design, build, and troubleshoot integrations using:
• Core Connector: Payroll
• Workday Global Payroll Connect
• EIBs and Workday Studio
• Collaborate directly with external payroll vendors to:
• Define technical specifications
• Exchange and validate test files
• Resolve integration issues
• Transform Workday data into vendor-specific payroll formats
• Document mapping logic, transformations, and integration flows
• Manage end-to-end testing, including parallel runs and cutover validation
• Ensure smooth transition into operations with clear documentation and handover
• Propose improvements to increase reliability, transparency, and performance

Skills & Experience Required

• 3+ years of Workday experience, including 2+ years delivering payroll integration projects
• Strong hands-on experience with:
• Core Connector: Payroll
• Workday Global Payroll Connect
• Custom file transformations
• Experience working directly with external payroll vendors (e.g. ADP, SD Worx, Strada or similar)
• Solid understanding of payroll concepts (gross/net pay, deductions, calendars, etc.)
• Ability to translate business requirements into clean, maintainable technical solutions
• Workday certification within Integration and/or Payroll
• Experience with secure file transfer and encryption protocols (e.g. SFTP, PGP)
• Previous experience in global payroll integrations is highly valued
